When it comes to mental health, mindset, insights, perception - I personally and my clients experienced so many episodes that are very difficult to explain logically but are absolutely unbelievable. It pushed me to open up and share - someone’s story can be your inspiration.
I always say - awareness is such a powerful tool. I would like to encourage you to learn as much as possible about yourself, your mind and your patterns.
For now let’s talk about survival mode - as we all had it in different forms...it’s the awareness step we can’t skip if we want to grow and improve on all levels.
Stress, insomnia, anxiety, emotional struggles have the same root. It’s nervous system being stuck in ‘fight-or-flight’ response.
The sympathetic mode
is your body's "fight-or-flight" state that activates when you need to react quickly to challenges - to analyse, react, act, prove, talk, think… In this state, your heart beats faster, breathing quickens, and stress hormones surge to prepare you for action or danger.
It’s absolutely natural biological process BUT prolonged activation of the sympathetic nervous system leads to the survival mode.
You know this feeling when you are in a bubble “trigger - over-thinking - stress”? Mind can go in circles over the same topic again and again - for days, weeks and years.
(Understanding your trigger points also has a massive impact on your entire being- we will talk about it later)
When stuck in the biological stress response too long, your body remains on high alert, preventing proper rest and recovery. This constant state of readiness can lead to stress, insomnia, emotional, behavioural, and mental patterns (like avoidance, people-pleasing, dissociation or other) and even physical health problems.
In this case your body doesn't get the chance to heal and process emotions as it’s “stuck” in survival mode even when the threat is gone!
Trapped in a loop
Our nervous system doesn’t only switch into survival mode when we’re rushing around doing things — it also happens when our mind won’t stop spinning.
All that mental chatter, carrying every problem and question around, overthinking the same things again and again… it actually keeps us in a constant state of alert. It’s like being trapped in a loop — and no wonder it makes us so unproductive and unfocused.
In this state, we continuously accumulate experiences and emotions without properly processing them.
Think of it like filling a bucket with water but never emptying it - eventually, it overflows. When we don't process these emotions, our body becomes a storage container for unresolved feelings, tensions, and stress. (Even positive experiences, like family gatherings, can overload your system, if you don’t take a space to internally proceed them!)
This overload creates stagnation - blockages in our system.
Did you notice that the best ideas come to you in the shower?
There’s a reason for that. As soon as you get out of sympathetic mode, you step out of the bubble — the constant thinking, planning, doing. Your body relaxes, your breath slows down, and suddenly your mind can zoom out.
You’re no longer stuck in survival mode, reacting to everything around you — you’re observing it. That’s when clarity shows up. You begin to see connections, patterns, and solutions that were invisible before. It’s not that the answers weren’t there — you just too stuck in a loop to notice them.
When you truly experience it - there is no other word to describe it but magic. it’s like a door appears out of nowhere - right in front of you!
This phenomenon and blissful parasympathetic state - are our cure. I will be sharing more regarding this topic and tips how we can switch to healing mode. Hasta pronto!
With love, your Simona
