There exists a particular area in our body that subconsciously embodies emotions such as the feeling of loss—whether it be of a person or something significant—unfulfilled ambitions, and material longings. In the field of Osteopathy, we refer to this area as zone D2.
This can encompass various aspects of life, including health, relationships, possessions, and finances. When we experience a fall—be it through injury or repeated setbacks—it signifies a loss. For instance, going through a divorce represents a significant loss. Unfortunately, this cycle of difficulties can feel relentless... Despite our best intentions, outcomes often revert to the same patterns. In these circumstances, we frequently observe a phenomenon known as the "house of cards." Imagine constructing a house of cards; just as you near completion, it inevitably collapses. This illustrates the essence of the "house of cards" symptom, which can be viewed as a specific manifestation of the broader theme of loss.
On a subconscious level, this zone reflects our overall luck in life, both in general and in specific situations.

The physical location of the D2 zone encompasses the upper lobe of the right lung, including the visceral cord, the right pulmonary trunk (the major blood vessel transporting blood from the heart to the lungs), the right collarbone, the associated blood vessels and nerve plexuses, the right shoulder blade, and the right arm.
The primary function of the psychosomatic expression of the D2 zone is to manifest our achievements and the beneficial outcomes of our efforts to the world around us. Regardless of the field of activity, what matters is that these results provide tangible benefits to ourselves or others. For instance, planting an apple tree that yields fruit is a result. Writing and publishing a book is another. Whether it’s creating a computer program, composing music, or a homemaker preparing a delicious soup, all these are outcomes of the positive energy of the D2 zone. The key is that these results must be realized in the tangible world and possess clear practical value.
When we discuss the cyclical nature of the positive attributes of the D2 zone, we highlight that resting on past achievements can lead to stagnation. Therefore, it’s essential to strive for new accomplishments regularly, ideally aiming for even greater heights or at least maintaining the same level of achievement.
If the D2 zone begins to produce results too frequently, there’s a risk of those results losing their value, especially if they become overly monetized by the S2 zone, which can lead to a sense of greed. This shift can result in a rigidity within the V2 zone, causing a loss of creative energy. Consequently, the D2 zone may experience a decline, rendering its outcomes less interesting or beneficial to anyone. Gentle manual osteopathy, particularly through a method known as Biological Centering, can help to realign and nurture the D2 zone by focusing on its primary aspects.
